From the beginning, Dolce & Gabbana pulled influence from one particular group of strong, confident, stylistically blessed women - Sicilian women.
Dolce, being from Sicily, had grown up with a large Sicilian influence and was not quite fond of this style.
A Sicilian’s woman staple at the time was of a strong woman donning pinstripes, chiffon, and a scarf.

Gabbana convinced Dolce of how powerful and influential Sicilian style was and
from that moment on they designed with the Sicilian woman in mind.
